Lifetime

Headworks with ceramic disks

For decades, research and development have been a top priority at Flühs Drehtechnik, and our efforts in these areas have resulted in trend-setting technical solutions in the faucet industry.

Lifetime headworks are an excellent example, because this patented product has become the world’s market leader. The technical concept of the Lifetime headwork combines innovation and functionality. This is why Flühs’ Lifetime is the only ceramic headwork which does not require grease to lubricate the ceramic sealing disks. Almost all manufacturers of quality brand-name faucets use the internationally acclaimed and tried-and-tested Lifetime headworks. The turning ranges are 90°, 180° and 270°.

Flühs Lifetime headworks are manufactured in standard sizes 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 5/8", and other requested connection thread sizes. In recent years, several hundred different headwork models have been developed and manufactured, giving the designers and technicians in the faucet industry even more design opportunities.

How the Lifetime functions

Turning the spindle moves the upper ceramic control disk in such a way that the openings of the inlet disk are blocked or are released to allow water to flow.

The turning angle of the spindle is limited to a 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 turn by an internal metal stop.  Even after many years of use, the stability of this stop prevents the wear and tear which otherwise occurs.

Connection to the faucet seat takes place via a lip-seal which also plays its part in the sealing function when the Lifetime is closed.

Lifetime Bearing

The Lifetime Bearing has the same dimension, functions and performance of the normal Lifetime headwork, but it is fitted with a friction bearing instead of the circlip.

The friction bearing consists of a special rigid and very slippery material, and this high-quality component is mounted free of play as a bearing for the spindle.

As an alternative, we can supply friction bearings whose only purpose is to provide optimised and stable positioning of the spindle, or others which, in addition, create a higher operating torque if required.

The Lifetime Bearing is also the ideal alternative for heavy, symmetrical handles.

Lifetime Exacto

The Lifetime Exacto is the only valve headwork on the market which permits correct alignment of specially designed lever, cross and square handles for faucets with a connecting thread.

How the Lifetime Exacto functions

The bonnet of the Lifetime Exacto is split in two and consists of a screw-in piece and a special nut. This special design makes it possible to fit the screw-in piece with the lip-seal and the ceramic washer unit optimally on the valve seat of the faucet, to align the handle of the faucet, and then to tighten everything. The external dimensions of the valve correspond to those of the standard Lifetime headworks.

Lifetime Option

The Lifetime Option is the only headwork available worldwide which can be operated universally both left turn closing and right turn closing. Based on Lifetime technology, a deliberate decision was taken to dispense with the inner metal stops.

Because a spring-assisted roller bearing cage is used, slight resistance can be felt on the spindle in the 'open' and 'closed' positions, but this resistance can be overcome using light pressure.

Therefore the spindle can be turned 360° in both directions.

Consequently, the Lifetime Option is both a right turn closing (RTC) and a left turn closing (LTC) headwork.

The application is in the sector of design faucets, but because the function cannot be influenced, and so it is virtually impossible to use it incorrectly, it can also be made good use of in public facilities.

Lifetime Green

Lifetime Green makes it easy to save water using sanitary faucets on a daily basis. Various, mechanically supported spindle positions make it possible to pre-select a particular water flow. The “Flühs-Klick” stands out due to its high precision. It offers a comfortable and easy operation and a unique long-life cycle. The Lifetime Green models are interchangeable with the Flühs standard Lifetime ½” and ¾” headworks.

Lifetime Modular

Well known for a few years now, this product family controls the water flow directly at the spout in combination with an aerator. It has now been complemented by adding the model Lifetime Modular. This model offers an even larger variety of design possibilities. There are two versions available – a drop-in version and a version with an external thread.

Lifetime Straight

In Lifetime Straight the water discharges at the spindle. This model is available in sizes ½” and ¾”.

Lifetime Linear

This headwork is activated by means of a linear movement of the spindle. The Lifetime Linear is designed for use with the standard 1/2" faucet seats. The new kinematics of the Lifetime Linear create the basis for new kinds of faucet design.

How the Lifetime Linear functions

The spindle can be moved linearly up to 26° from the closed position of the headwork in order to attain the fully opened position. The spindle engages directly in the control disk which slides onto the inlet disk. These products, too, make use of a grease-free ceramic disk pairing which retains its long term ease of operation. A lip-seal is used to seal the faucet seat.

The 3-piece bonnet with nut allows the Lifetime Linear to be set in any position.

To do this, release the nut and screw the Lifetime Linear into the faucet body.

Place the spindle in the required position before tightening the nut.

The Lifetime Linear can be used for single lever faucets, joystick faucets and also faucets with sliding handles.

Lifetime Backward

Lifetime Backward corresponds to the regular Lifetime headwork in respect to dimensions and performance. The difference lies within the reverse flow of this product. Even in this situation the sealing function is granted. Lifetime Backward is available in ½“ as well as ¾“.
